“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance – and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.” ~Oprah Winfrey
It can be difficult when you’re struggling to not just wish you could skip ahead to the end. But when it comes to reaching your goals, the journey is just as important as the end result, if not more so. Along the way you grow and learn and become a stronger person. What has brought you to this point, and the places you’re heading toward in the future, is the path. Realizing your dream without struggling to achieve it won’t have nearly as much significance for you as fighting for it every step of the way will.
And, as indicated in the quote above, if you look at things in this way, the small victories and mini goals you accomplish along the way become more meaningful. As you’re fighting and struggling to realize your dream, you gain appreciation for the process, and for what you ultimately achieve. You can see the entire process as a success, not just the ultimate goal you’re striving for. This is why it’s important to celebrate the small victories. Those milestones and happy moments can be more than just steps in the right direction. They can be reasons to celebrate in their own right.
Celebrate the process, not just the goal.
